Action Regulation continued...
An action is made up of a series of levers that throw the hammers to the strings. When these levers are not in the proper relationship to each other, the action is not as responsive as it should be. It's possible, using a variety of techniques, to balance a keyboard's response to produce a dramatically improved quality of touch. An uneven action can be evened out. A heavy hard-to-play action can be made to be more easy and responsive. And a keyboard that is too fast or insubstantial can be made to feel more solid and controllable. In a number of ways, the action geometry of the action can be changed to produce very satisfying results.
